I accidentally posted this message to the XPgeneral newsgroup, to which I
apologise.

I specified a search to scan my C: drive only. When it found the files, I
saved it to my desktop; but I notice that it saved it as having searched
both my C & D drives. Why should this be, and can it not be changed to save
as specified?

I think you are out of luck with the native search engine which is not very
good in my opinion. I use Agent Ransack, a freebie search utility, and it
does exactly what you want.
